10th Annual Wings of Hope Memorial Butterfly Release

Saturday, September 7, 2019
Colburn Park in Lebanon, NH
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

On September 7, hundreds of families, friends, VNH staff, and members of the community came together to celebrate life and honor lost loved ones at our 10th Annual Wings of Hope Memorial Butterfly Release. More than 400 Monarch butterflies were released into the air, filling participants with smiles and laughter, tears of sadness and joy, and above all a feeling of peace and uplift.

In addition to the butterfly release ceremony, the day featured poignant reflections from VNH employees and performances from the Kurn Hattin Homes Select Choir and Scottish Highland bagpiper Lezlie Webster. It also featured the “Before I Die” wall, filled with the inspiration and passion of many in attendance.

VNH is honored to serve so many during some of the most difficult days at the end of life. Our programs and services are provided to residents in more than 140 Vermont and New Hampshire communities. Proceeds from Wings of Hope support VNH Hospice care across the region.

Barbara G. about the 9th Annual Wings of Hope

Your recent Lebanon event last Saturday was just lovely and our first time attending. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it and, although we live in the Lakes’ Region, will attempt to get there yearly now. It was well timed, and the speakers were quite informative. We particularly liked the children’s choir. Ending with the Monarchs was over the top – extraordinary – we rarely see the beautiful creatures, and felt particularly blessed to be able to see them so close at hand – just terrific!!

Nathaniel Hawthorne

Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you sit down quietly, may alight upon you.
